South Whidbey State Park is a Washington state park in Island County. It consists of 347 acres (140 ha) of old-growth forest and tidelands with 4,500 feet (1,400 m) of shoreline on Admiralty Inlet. The park contains many mature specimens of western red cedar, Douglas fir, and western hemlock, some of the largest on Whidbey island, including one Giant Cedar over 500 years old.The creation of the park in 1974 was prompted in part by protests from local citizens who were concerned by efforts of private companies to log the last old-growth forests on Whidbey. The park was substantially expanded in 1990 with the addition of 262 acres of old-growth forest known as Classic U, one of only two remaining stands of old growth on the island, which had previously been managed by the Washington Department of Natural Resources.Park activities include picnicking, hiking on 3.5 miles (5.6 km) of trails, camping, crabbing, clamming, fishing, swimming, beachcombing, birdwatching, and wildlife viewing.Questo elemento è presente anche nelle lingue: Inglese Francese Spagnolo Tedesco Portoghese, Portogallo Russo
