Negroni

Legends abound about the invention of this iconic cocktail, most agree on the following: sometime around the turn of the century (early 1900s) Count Negroni asked a now forgotten bartender to supercharge the then fashionable “Americano” cocktail, swapping out soda for gin. The resulting cocktail equal parts gin, vermouth and Campari, garnished with an orange wheel, has since become the iconic Italian cocktail. Different stories site different bars as the birthplace of the negroni, but one story, as well as a gold plaque in the famous Rivoire caffe in Florence’s Piazza Signoria, claims the now classic cocktail was invented in a former caffe on that site.

Vey good
It’s a timeless drink for young people and adults.
I know about the plaque at Rivoire , but I know also an other legend about the Count that also used to go to The Aristocrat Coffee Casoni in Via de’ Tornabuoni in Florence. So maybe the Negroni was born there.
You drink it in the unmistakable short tumbler with orange slices.
Not to mention about one of the most famous variants that’s the wrong Negroni, where gin is replaced by sparkling wine.
Strong drink
Hi guys
I usually drink it after dinner not for the aperitif so I think it’s too strong drinking it while you’re eating. It covers the other flavours.
But it’s definitely a good drink.
Anyway I personally prefer the other version, the Wrong Negroni.
