  • Tuscany isn’t only art and culture but also azure seas and beaches, some sandy, some not. One of the most beautiful zones is surely the Etruscan Coast which runs from Castiglioncello to Baratti, and which gets its name from the ancient Etruscans who once lived in the region and left behind the Etruscan Necropolis in Baratti, not to mention countless works of metal all along the coast. In addition to the sparkling seas, this land was renowned for its metal deposits, used by both the the Etruscans and the Romans.

Two other zones even more internationally famous for their beauty and beaches are the Maremma and Argentario which includes such acclaimed destinations as Orbetello, Porto Santo Stefano, Porto Ercole and the islands of Giglio, Giannutrie e Monte Cristo. One curiosity worth mentioning is that this spectacular promontory was once an island that over many centuries joined the main land, forming the Orbetello Laguna that today is a protected oasis by the World Wildlife Foundation.
