The Separation of Light from Darkness is a fresco (180×260 cm) by Michelangelo Buonarroti, dated to about 1512, and forms part of the decoration of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican Museums in Rome, commissioned by Pope Julius II.
