  • The David of Gian Lorenzo Bernini (marble, 170 cm Rome, Galleria Borghese), which incorporates the biblical myth of David and Goliath – which sees David (David) to face the giant Goliath armed with a slingshot (other sculptors depict him with a sword) – it was carved between 1623 and 1624, after the work was commissioned from the artist by Cardinal Scipione Borghese.
